6.05 Module Six Project

My Module Six Project Review:   .....................................

1. How does each possible solution for your chosen issue meet or fail to meet each of your criteria? Explain.

2. Based on your research, which is the best solution to turn into action? Explain why you made this choice over the other possible solutions. Refer back to the criteria and externalities.

My Answers:....................
1. All of my possible solutions not only meet the expectations of a solvent and answer to lessen climate change, but it surpasses them as well. All of my solutions are proven to be beneficial and work in many circumstances. The only issue and barrier that stands in the way, is my community's dull approach to caring about the world we live on. Many people forget that even though they don't think little stuff like climate change effects them, it does. Everything in the world revolves around each other. When people start realizing this and stop sticking in their old ways of doing things, then the world would be a better place and climate change would be diminished.

2. Based on my research, the best solution to turn into action against climate change is abstinence of harmfull pollutants as an energy source. There are many types of energy sources,  yet we use the one that is most harmful to the environment. I chose this one over all other solutions because in today's world of constant use of powered technology and innovation at every corner, we need a solution now even more than ever because as a result of our greedy and yearning hands. Technology use is expected to drastically quadruple in the next few years and so it global warning. Hopefully by finding other efficient ways to power our devices because our use of them and knowledge is surely not going to stop any time soon. Instead, if anything, it will continue to rise.

6.02 What are Externalities-Honors

What is the issue? How is this issue connected to poverty?
The issue is the increasing climate change in my area partially due to my community's actions. Climate change and poverty are interrelated and linked in the way that it affects humans. Not only does climate change have effects on the environment and animals, but people as well. Climate change increases exposure and vulnerability. Thus, it makes the place that many of my friends and I call home easily put at risk. When the climate of the atmosphere increase, everything that was once on balance, falls off. What I mean by this is it starts ideas of corruption, heartache and "over-use" because prices and other issues raise yet many people's income will either stay the same or decrease.Various negative impacts from climate change include water insecurity, raised sea-levels, human health, and declining biodiversity.
What externalities does this issue raise?
Some positive externalities of climate change is longer hotter summer for eager beach goers and booming businesses in colder regions. The negative effects of externalities surely outweigh the positive. One negative externality of climate change is raising sea-levels which in turn, can create flooding, tropical storms, and other natural disasters. Climate change will also affect rainfall, water availability, and temperature for agriculture in vulnerable areas. one impact of these externalities is the use of free resources. When people use free resources many other people do not care that they may depend on it to survive and with increasing pressure from climate change and it's affect on pockets, many of them will abuse and do as they please with them. Not only could this affect day to day life, but it could virtually bring down an entire nation.
Helpful actions?
What can you do? There is lots you can do to decrease climate change and raise awareness. First, use less fuel and energy that releases chemicals into the air in the form of pollution and instead, replace them with lighter, less harmful gases or none at all. It is expected that by 2020, the average home is expected to be 5% larger and will rely on even more electricity-powered electronics. Even though this may be true for later years, we can still depend on these electronics but in a smarter way. Just think of a energy-efficient iPhone or maybe even a water powered computer. They key now is to start thinking smart and stop the fart! The possibilities are endless and with the help of many up and coming innovators, anything is possible. Let's go back to our roots! Let's take control of our home, Earth!

1.02 Evolution of American Journalism

In this lesson, 1.02 Evolution of American Journalism on Florida Virtual School, I discovered heaps, piles, and even loads of information. Not, literally of course, but at every corner of the lesson,  I felt like I found out something I didn't know before, kind of like finding those pants in the drier you never knew you had or that dollar or two in the pocket of one of your favorite jackets. Some of the facts I acquired while reading the unit were the origins and history behind journalism and how it evolved and formed into this beautiful work of art we know today. I never thought journalism had roots that far back in time and enlightened so many people, nor did I know Benjamin Franklin wrote one of the very first well-known newspapers of the colonies in 1729. It seems to me, Mr.Franklin did a lot more in his spare time other than founding our country and creating some of the greatest innovations of our century.

My thoughts on early American journalism is nothing else but wholesome gratitude. Without the continuous hard work of many enlightened people and ideals at the time, we would not be able to communicate the way we do or even have freedom of speech and the press. Our founding fathers knew American mouths needed to be heard, not silenced in order to form a more perfect union. Think about it, our nation is built on stilts and frameworks of rebellion and speaking up for what you believe in even if persecution follows. In order to stay in contact with others and know what's taking place around the states, American's went through great lengths to receive news. Some of these remarkable efforts include putting newspapers together by hand, not being able to use the delete key, and even traveling far distances to see what's going on around the world, whereas nowadays we can get the same information at the snap of our fingers.

Just think about it. If freedom of the press were not guaranteed many people of all walks of life would be scared to death and shaking in their boots at the thought of saying what's truly on their mind and going on around the world. Before, in many dictatorship governments, those who opposed or went against something or someone the ruler didn't agree with, would be persecuted. As a result, not only would people hold fear in their hearts at the thought of being punished, but also, if freedom of the press were not guaranteed, this would allow many corrupt officials to take advantage of this loop in the government and use it to harm or scare others. In essence, it could possibly lead to the downfall of a nation. I am hoping to learn more information on the history of journalism throughout the world and key figures that helped turn this fairly new uncommon ordeal into a daily part of American life.
